In the Qur’an Allah has cursed the Jews not because they are Jewish but because of the bad actions of the Jews. Allah cursed Firaun (Pharaoh) the kings of ancient Egypt, not because they were Firaun but because of their bad actions. Allah has no relationship with any men or race but with their actions. It is wrong and absurd to believe when Allah has cursed the Jews then the Muslims should do the same. Allah has not cursed the Jews because they are Jewish but their bad actions that happened during the particular time as stated in the Qur’an.

Currently most Muslims hate the Jews because of their race. Muslims should hate the bad actions of the Jews not the Jewish people. Indeed, Muslims should also hate the bad actions of the Muslims not the Muslims itself. When we hate the Jews because of their race then we are racist which is prohibited in Islam

Allah ordered us to hate wrong or bad actions and we do it because it is the order of Allah. Similarly, Allah ordered us to love good actions and we do it because it is the order of Allah. As a Muslim we must love and hate according to the order of Allah. Allah has ordered us to love good actions and to hate bad actions. Allah not ordered us to hate the Jews but He ordered us to hate the bad actions of the Jews. Allah has cursed not only the Jews but others who do wrong actions. Some Muslims are trying to justify their action of cursing the Jews by saying that it is the teaching of Islam. Due to the misunderstanding of the Quran most Muslims believe that they can curse the Jews because Allah had cursed the Jews in the Quran. The fact is Allah has cursed the Jews in the Qur’an because of the Jews wrong doings and not because they are Jewish.

Allah loves the Jews as He loves others of His creation. Some Jews think and believe that Jews are a superior race than others in this world. This is also a wrong understanding that leads to racism. Allah will only honour and dishonour a person on the basis of their actions and not race. Jews who have this kind of believe will become racists .It is an absolutely wrong to believe that in the eyes of Allah, a certain race is special and superior to others. Allah only made a person special when he or she has good actions and not when he or she is Jewish or belong to any particular race. Allah has no relation with any race but Allah has a relation with actions. All mankind, including the Jews are the creation of Allah. All mankind are members of the same family and descendent of the same ancestors and the creation of one God and there is no God except Allah. Why some Jews are so obsessed about their race? Why some Jews are so proud of becoming a Jew. Some Jews are so obsessed of their race and proud to be born Jewish, because they believe that Jews are the superior race and the children of God. They become so proud to the extent they look down on anybody who is not Jewish. A Jew who has believed that he or she is special and above others will look down on others who is not Jewish. Such Jews will not have any guilty conscience when they do any injustice to others. It is natural for a person who believes that he or she is superior to others will become an arrogant person. A proud and arrogant person will not have a good character. A proud and arrogant person will always look down on others and will not respect the life and properties of others. A proud person will not give any damn about what others think of them. A proud person will always want to blame others on their mistakes and win in any argument. A proud person will become so irritated with anyone who becomes superior to them. A proud person will always be willing to breach any treaty and promises they have made with those who are not superior to them. Those Jews who are having believed that they are superior and special races to others will definitely become proud and racist Jews. Proud and racist Jews will certainly have no good behaviours. Proud and racist Jews are willing even to eradicate or exterminate others who stand on their way of becoming superior.

Why do most Jews believe they are the superior races? In my opinion, there are many reasons why most Jews think and believe that Jews are a superior race when compared to others. One of the most important reasons for the Jewish to believe that Jews are a superior race is because there are many Prophets of Allah are Jewish. Many prominence Prophets such as Prophet Musa as, Prophet Isa or Jesus are Jewish. Many other prophets such as Prophet Jacob, David, and Suleiman are also Jewish. Besides these imminent Prophets of Allah, there are many other Prophets who are Jewish. During the time of Prophet Musa as, the Jewish who are with Prophet Musa as are being fed by Allah with the foods from the heaven known as Manna and Salwa for nearly 40 days. During the time of Prophet Isa or well-known as Jesus, the Jews who are with Prophet Isa were being served by Allah with the food from the heaven, an occasion known as the Grand Supper. Jewish are the only race in the world that has been chosen by Allah to eat the foods from the heaven. Beside in the past there are many Prophets who are Jewish, even to this day; many successful persons in various fields of human endeavours are Jews. One of the most well-known and most admired scientists of modern times, Sir Albert Einstein is a Jewish. Many famous and successful actors and actress are also Jewish. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton are both Jewish. Many successful businessmen and bankers are also Jewish and the most current example of them is Mr Donald Trump. Many Presidents of the United States of America are Jewish and the most notable one was President John F Kennedy. Many Jews have become very rich and very successful in this world. There are about 185 Jews and of Jewish descent has been awarded the Noble Price Winner. Because of the many great achievements of so many Jews in this world, many Jews have been trapped in believe that Jews are a superior race to others and Jews are children of God. Because of this wrong belief, many Jews believe that Jews must rule and control the world. Many Jews believe that Jews are a superior race. This belief is installed into their heart because since the day they were born until they become adult, they are in the habit of speaking and hearing repeatedly these words; “Jews are a superior race” and “Jews are children of God”. Many Jews speak and hear these words repeatedly among themselves until it has become a belief among them that Jews are a superior race.

Men behave according to what they believe and think, not according to what they know. What men believe and think depends on what they often hear and speak since they were child. What they speak depend on what they hear from their parent or guardians. Probably Jewish parent talk to their children when their children are small; Jews are children of God and Jews are a superior race to others. Such words when repeatedly heard and spoke it become a belief to both children and parents. Such belief has made Jews to work and study very hard in order to come up to their belief. Jews become what they speak and hear repeatedly. Jews become excellent in whatever they do, because they have the belief that they are the best and superior to others. We become according to what we believe and not according what we know. When certain words are spoken and heard repeatedly, a time will come when it will become our belief. We are according to what we believe and what we believe is determined by what we often speak and listen repeatedly. On the other hand our body is built according to what we eat. When we eat good food and cook in the good way, our body will become healthy. When Jews eat good food and cook in the good way and believe and think they are a superior race, Jews perform better than others in this world. Although Jewish made up of only 0.2 percent of the world population, yet about 185 Jews or Jewish descents are the recipient of the Noble price winner. There is no doubt that Jews are the most superior race in the world. However this has made Jews to become very proud and arrogant race in this world.

Because of many Jews are high achievers, Jewish have become a very arrogant race. Generally, Jews will not submit to other than Jewish people. Many Jews are made Prophets by Allah and this has made Jews to believe and think they are a superior race .When Allah chooses Muhammad SAW, who is an Arab and not Jewish to be the last Prophet, Jews find it difficult to accept him as the true Prophets of Allah. Arabs are the cousins of the Jews and both races are the descendent of Prophet Ibrahim. Prophet Ibrahim had two wives. One of his wives came from Jewish race and another wife came from Arabs race. When the Jews denied Muhammad SAW as the last Prophet of Allah, the Jews in the eyes of Allah is no longer become a superior race to others in this world. When they denied Muhammad SAW, they become disbelievers. Many hate Jews and become jealous to Jews; because they are high achievers and arrogant. Muslims are not ordered by Allah to curse and to hate the Jews. Allah only curses those Jews who are denying Muhammad SAW as a Prophet and also trying to killed Muhammad SAW and Islam. We are ordered by Allah to have love and pity on the Jews and to invite them to accept Muhammad as the last Prophet of Allah. When the Jews accept Muhammad as the last Prophet of Allah, they become Muslims. Muslims are those who submit to the wills of Allah and when the Jews are willing to submit to the will and wishes of Allah, they become Muslims. Would that be possible? Arabs and Jewish are cousins and whole humanity belongs to one family and descended from the same grandfather. All of us are created by one God name Allah and there is no god except Allah. Jewish and Arabs are cousins and they must become friendly with each other. As cousins Arabs (Palestinians) and the Jewish must be willing to share their land and the city of Jerusalem.  Arabs and Jewish should abolish hatred and disagreement that they have between them.

Muslims must invite the Jews to accept Muhammad as the Prophet of Allah and if they refuse the invitation, we should respect their choice for not accepting Muhammad SAW as the Prophet of Allah and not hate and curse them. Muslims must not give up the effort of inviting the Jews to accept Muhammad SAW as the Prophet of Allah. We must love the Jews as they are also the members of the family of mankind. On the other hand, the Jews must not think they are superior to others as that will make them racist and arrogant. When the Jews recite the Great Kalimah, ”I bear witness there is no God except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah”, the Jews become Muslims. A Muslim cannot become a Jew but a Jew can become a Muslim. A Jew will remain Jewish, although the Jew has become a Muslims. A Muslim must put Allah orders above all at all time, even above his or her race. When a Jew becomes a Muslim, he or she must put the orders of Allah above race. Jewish are the same as Malays. Jewish and Malay are two races that make race and religion to be the same. As an example Malay is define as a person who speaks Malay, a Muslim, and lives in Malay culture. In Malaysia Malay must be a Muslim and when Malay denounce Islam, he or she is no longer a Malay and similarly with the Jewish and Judaism. No one can embrace Judaism unless he or she is a Jew. Malay and the Jewish are the two races in the world that make religion and race inseparable. In one of my article I did mentioned that Malay might be one of the ten lost tribes of Israel.

In this world, everyone think they are in the correct path but a correct path is not determined by what we think. Everyone makes their own definition of a correct path. Jews think the land that they have occupied now is belonging to the Jews and the Palestinians think, the land occupied by the Jews, belong to the Palestinians. The Jews believe the land belong to the Jews is purely base on history. Jews ancestors used to live on the land many thousands years ago. Palestinians believe that the land belongs to them because before the Jews came to occupy the land, they have lived on the land for more than hundreds years. Palestinians believe the Jews have occupied their land and the Jews believe that the land belong to their forefathers who had been driven away from the land by their enemies. British had conquered the land from the Muslims Turk and with help from British; the Jews have occupied the land and named the country by the name Israel. Jews from all over the world migrated to Israel. British had given the land totally to the Jews. Instead of giving the whole land to the Jews, British should have given only a portion of the land to the Jews and the rest to the Palestinians and a treaty must be made between Israel and Palestine in order to keep two countries living cordially with each other. The Middle East problem between the Jews and Palestinians is not solved because the Jews is too arrogant to accept the reality and the Jews want the whole land to be given to Jews only and nothing for Palestinians. Palestinians have been very kind to the Jews by allowing the Jews to have part of the land to become their homeland after a very long time the Jews live all over the world without a country. The Jews should become more humble and reasonable by accepting the Palestinians to become a partner of the land. Arrogant peoples like most of the Jews are not having good behaviours and manners.

Most of the Jews in present day in Israel came from all over the world and they should respect the local Palestinians who had lived in the land for hundreds years before the Jews came to Israel. Instead of respecting the local Palestinians and willing to share the land with them the arrogant Jews drive away the Palestinians from their homeland and built wall to separate the Palestinians from the Jews. No races in the world and definitely not the Jews will ever be able to withstand the humiliation the Jews have done to the Palestinians. I hope the Jews will try to respect the Palestinians and give the Palestinian, their shares of the land. If the Jews fail to do so, a time will come when Allah once again will give the Jews a more severe humiliation in the future that none can imagine.

Our Prime Minister Dato’Seri Najib launches the slogan of Satu Malaysia with the aim of unifying Malaysian. After about 54 years of independence, Malaysia come out with the slogan of Satu Malaysia with the hope, the slogan will help to unite the various races in Malaysia. Satu Malaysia is only a concept that must be accepted and understood by all Malaysians. Do all Malaysian want to become one Malaysia? Or understand what it means by one Malaysia. In my opinion, the concept of one Malaysia means; there will be a time in Malaysia, when everyone in Malaysia is treated equally regardless of their race and religions and when everyone in Malaysia will be having equal opportunity to excel and progress regardless of their race and religions. During that time everyone will have equal opportunities to become successful but the ones who are successful are those who are taking advantage of the opportunities by working hard. With the concept of one Malaysia no particular race is favoured above other races and only the hardworking persons will excel above others. Only songs and slogan will not made the concept of one Malaysia a reality. Only having slogan of one Malaysia is a disaster. It creates havoc and confusion particularly among the Malays. In order to make the concept of one Malaysia a reality, correct actions and planning must be developed by the government. One Malaysia is only a concept and it cannot be implemented immediately by the government. When the government want to implement the concept of one Malaysia immediately, it will cause chaos and anarchy between the various races in Malaysia. Only with correct planning and actions, a time will come when the concept of one Malaysia becomes a reality in Malaysia

In my opinion currently the Malays are not ready to even accept the concept of one Malaysia. In the heart of many Malays, Malaysia is their land and the Chinese and the Indians is the migrant to this land. Similarly in my opinion, in the heart of some Chinese and Indians, China and India is still their motherland. As migrants to this land, the Chinese and the Indians are both hardworking, when compared to the Malays. Malays are leading a life of more complacent, compared with the Chinese and the Indians. Do the Malays ready to compete with the hardworking Chinese and Indians? In my opinion the complacent Malays are not ready to compete with the Chinese and the Indians.Beacuse the Malays are in majority and in a democratic system, the majority rules, so since independence Malays have taken over the task of administering Malaysia. With the political power in the hand of the Malays, the government being Malays is trying to use the power to upgrade the economic standard of the Malays. Malays are favoured by the government and are given by the government many opportunities to excel in various fields particularly in business. Malays are pampered by the government and they love to be pampered by the government and it takes a long time for the Malays to change their mentality. Malays believe that they have come to this lovely nation much earlier than other races and they believe that they deserve a greater portion of the richness of this country than other races. Malays have acquired a complacent lifestyle because they have lived in this country of comfort and plenty many hundreds of years ago .Malays are not used to competitive lifestyle. In order to survive the Chinese who came to Malaysia during the last one hundred years are forced to have a hardworking lifestyle. Chinese who came to Malaysia in the last hundred years have not acquired the complacent lifestyles which have been acquired by the Malays.

As far as I know, since Malaysia gains her independence in the year 1957, Malaysia does not have any plan to integrate her various races that live in Malaysia. It seems the Malaysian government is not interested in racial integration. Malaysian government seems to allow the various races in Malaysia to live in any areas of their choice, built their own vernacular schools and establish their own political parties. Except for the mosques which are built by the government, temples and churches are built privately by each community. Logically in my opinion, Malaysia after gaining her independence should have a plan to integrate the various races in Malaysia. Only after the process of integration of the various races is achieved, the next Malaysian plan will be to unite the various races in Malaysia to become one Malaysia. Only then the concept of one Malaysia will become a reality. Without any plans to integrate the various races in Malaysia we cannot have racial unity in the country and we cannot have the concept of one Malaysia. The government lead by Barisan National had failed to integrate and to unite Malaysians and when racial tension start to surface again as it was in 1969; Barisan government led by Dato Seri Najib quickly comes out with the concept of one Malaysia. One Malaysia is only a concept and singing only the concept will not make Malaysians to become united. Behind the concept of one Malaysia, there must be started with years of hard work to integrate and to unite Malaysians.

With integration Malaysians will start to mingle and mix with each other. When Malaysians start to mingle with each other, they start to become friendly towards each other. When Malaysians start to become friendly towards each other they will start to become more understanding towards each other. With more understanding between the races, they become friendlier with each other and only when they become friendlier with each other they become united towards each other. With only having the concept of satu Malaysia, singing the song of one Malaysia, saluting with each other with the slogan of one Malaysia will not help to integrate or to unite Malaysians. With the concept of one Malaysian, Malaysians are not coming even near to unity but coming closer to racial disunity. When we have the racial riot in 1969, our leaders at that time came to the conclusion that the disunity was the result of economic disparity between the Malays and the Chinese. With the incorrect understanding, the government at that time which was led by Barisan National embarked on the new economic policy aimed in narrowing down the economic disparity between the Chinese, Indians and the Malays. Now, although economic disparity between the Malays, Indians and the Chinese is narrowed down but racial tension remain high. Now we know that racial tension is not caused mainly by economic disparity between the Malays, Indians and the Chinese but the main reason for racial tension in Malaysia is due to the lack of understanding between the Malays, Indians and the Chinese. This misunderstanding is caused by the lack of intermingling and interaction between the Malays, Chinese and the Indians. Our government in the past had failed to adopt policies that enable the various races in Malaysia to interact and mingle among them. With the current political scenario and racial tension that exist in Malaysia, many are in the opinion that racial riots can occur anytime in Malaysia.

How to make the Malays to mingle and integrate with the Chinese and the Indians? Malays are Muslims and the Chinese and the Indians are mostly non-Muslims and Malays as a Muslim is not ready to visit the Chinese and the Indian houses and eat with them the food cook by the non-Muslims but Chinese and Indians can come and visit their Muslims houses and eat their food. Government should not encourage the Malays to celebrate Chinese New Year and Depavalli or Thaipusam with the Chinese and the Indians respectively as they will not be able to visit the Chinese and the Indians houses and eat their non-Halal foods. Instead the government should encourage the Chinese and the Indians to celebrate Muslims Festivals particularly Hari Raya Puasa with the Malays. On the day of Hari Raya Puasa all the Chinese and the Indians should be encouraged by the Government to visit their Muslim Malay houses and celebrate the festival together with the Malays. Malays must to be told to invite not only their Malays friends but also their Chinese and the Indians friends to their houses and to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa together. Government must make the celebration of Hari Raya Puasa to be the national celebration of all the three races in Malaysia. It should be made the national festival holiday for all the races in the country. On Hari Raya Puasa all the three main races will have the opportunity to mingle and interact with each other’s. However Chinese New year should be a holiday only for the Chinese and Thaipusam and Depavalli, should be a holiday only for the Indians. Malaysia should have a national festival day for all the three races in Malaysia. In my opinion Hari Raya Puasa is the best festival day for all the races in Malaysia.

Allah has made the Malays to become Muslims. As a Muslim, the Malays have the responsblity of inviting the Chinese and the Indians who are not Muslim to become Muslims. Allah has ordered the Muslims (Malays) to invites others to Good and prohibits others from evils. The greatest evil committed by men is many men do not want to accept Allah as the only God and Muhammad saw as the Prophet of Allah. Allah has ordered the Muslims (Malays) to prohibit these evils by inviting non-Muslims to Good. Inviting the non-Muslims to Good means to invite them to accept and to recite the Great Kalimah, I bear witness that there is no God except Allah and I bear witness Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. The greatest evil committed by those who have recited the Great Kalimah is many of them have forgotten the meaning of the Great Kalimah and many of them have forgotten to convey the Great Kalimah to the non-Muslims and many of them have forgotten to perform obligatory five times daily prayers.

And to invite the Muslims to Good means to remind Muslims about the meaning of the Great Kalimah and to invite those Muslims (Malays) who are not doing the work of inviting non-Muslims to become Muslims to start doing the work and to those Muslims who are not observing the obligatory five times daily prayers to start performing five times daily prayers. In order to enable the Malays who are Muslims to do the work of inviting to Good and prohibiting the evils, Allah has ordered the Muslims (Malays) to show good behaviours to their non-Muslims counterpart, the Chinese and the Indians. When the Malays meet their non-Muslims neighbours and friends such as the Indians and the Chinese they must be saluting towards each other’s. Malays being Muslims must be encouraged by the government to visit their non-Muslims neighbour’s houses and to give them presents such as food or fruits and to invite them to become Muslims by inviting them to recite the Great Kalimah. Malays must be told to regard the Chinese and the Indians who are not Muslims as also belonging to the members of a great family of Allah. Government must tell the Malays to regard the Chinese and the Indians as one Family and not to regard them as enemies but instead to regard them as members of one family and to love them.

Daily the Malays who are Muslims must be encouraged by the government to spend about 45 minutes to visit the houses of their Muslims and non-Muslims neighbours in their locality. When they meet Muslims they must remind them about the meaning of the Great Kalimah and to invite them to obey the orders of Allah. The first order of Allah that they should invite a Muslims is the order which all the Muslims in the whole world have forgotten, the order to go and visit the non-Muslims and to invite them to recite the Great Kalimah. The second order of Allah which a Muslims should do is to perform five times daily prayers. When the Malays meet the non-Muslims, they must invite them to become Muslims by asking them to recite the Great Kalimah. When such activities are encouraged by the government, we will find the process of intermingling and interaction between the various the Malays and the various races in Malaysia will definitely take place. Whether the Chinese or the Indians become Muslims or not is not the main intention of visiting the Chinese and the Indians. The main intention of visiting the Chinese and the Indians is to obey the orders of Allah of inviting them to recite the Great Kalimah and to please Allah. When the Malays, Indians and the Chinese start to know each other, then only they will start to respect, to love and to be united with each other.

In order to encourage intermingling and interaction between all the races in Malaysia, the government must not allow any kampong, villages, township, residential and business areas to be dominated entirely by one particular racial group. All new housing schemes and business shop-lots must be designed and the old ones to be redesigned in order to include all the three races together. The ratio of the Malays; Chinese and Indians should be preferably the ratio of 6; 3; 1 .There should not be any residential or business areas in Malaysia to be dominated by only one particular race. Government must have the policy that all shop lots and residential houses must be given to all the races with the ratio stated above. The Malays being the majority race in the country should occupy the greater proportion of the houses or shops in any locality in Malaysia. We have to make every residential and business area to be truly Malaysians. All building contractors must comply with the government regulation, before they are allowed to build any houses or shop lots in any areas of the country

Our children, Malays, Chinese and Indians should only go to one National School System and all other private school must also follow the same education system. Medium of instruction in the National and private schools must only be Bahasa Malaysia, with English, Chinese and Tamils are thought as secondary languages. All our students must have credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English and at least pass in Chinese and Tamil languages. Science and mathematics are thought in Bahasa Malaysia with the scientific terms maintain in the original language. Except for international schools, all the present Chinese, Tamil and other schools must be converted to using Bahasa Malaysia as the medium of instruction. The current Chinese and Tamil schools are to increase the intake of other races particular the Malays into the schools. All schools in the country will have to follow the same education system. Madrasah which teaches Quran or Islamic study or any other schools of other religion must also follow the same education system. Quran or Islamic courses and the study of other religions must be made as an additional optional course offered by the schools. All schools in Malaysia must teach all the compulsory basic courses and compulsory optional courses. Compulsory basic courses include Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese, Tamil, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography. Optional subjects include Islamic study and it is compulsory only for Muslim students, Christianity is compulsory only to Christian’s students and so forth.

All schools must have the intake of the Malays; Chinese and the Indians with the ratio of approximately 6:3:1. All Malaysians children until the age of seventeen are compulsory to study. It became and offence for parents not to send their children to school. With the same education system, all Malaysians of various races would be able to mingle and to interact with each other’s. There are five days of schooling and students are compulsory to talk to each other’s Bahasa Malaysia for two days in a week, to speak one day for English, to speak one day for Chinese and another day for Tamil. With the same system of education, Malaysians will be able to know each other’s and to be able to communicate withs each other’s and with this Malaysians will have greater understanding between each other’s. With more understanding Malaysians will have less friction between each other’s and more chances of national integration and unity.

No one is allowed to open a school without having prior permission of the government and all entrance into a school is decided by the government. All the present Government Boarding Schools that cater only the Muslims Malays must be changed to cater all the races with the Malays as the majority race that occupy the greater proportion of the students. Government Boarding school must give preference to the unfortunate and the weak ones and it should be the mixture of the good and the weak students among the three races. Our current system of separating the weak and the good students in separate classes must be abolished. Instead we should have in each class the good mingle with the weak students with the proportion of the good more than the weaker students. Our school syllabus must be designed base on the outcomes that our country wants to achieve. Our school assessment system must be an outcome base system and it should not be based entirely on final examination results. Assessment must be continuous and it should also include on manual skills, communication skill, innovative inclination and behaviours which include religious and social.

On 16^th November 2011, Bureau Da’wah and Tarbiyyah of Mahallah Uthman Representative Committee (MURC) had organized a religious talk (tazkirah) entitled Da’wah Islamiyyah  at Musolla Uthman, UIAM.

The programme started at 7.25 pm after Maghrib congregational prayer. The tazkirah was delivered by Prof. Dr. Nasoha Saabin, Dean Faculty of Optometry from International University of Technology Twintech.

“Do da’wah with good akhlaq!” said Prof. Dr Nasoha. He added more “Da’wah and akhlaq are two different things, but they complementing each other. Some of us may believe that we cannot preach Islam to non-muslim before we rectify ourselves. No! This is wrong. Your akhlaq will be better when you start to teach others about Islam. These two things are reflexive. That is the beautiful of Islam.”

One of the participants, Firdaus Zawani is grateful to spend his time for the tazkirah. “This is good for me. As an engineering student I can hardly learn about the story of Islam and the concept of da’wah in class. Informal lesson like this can be very helpful for reviving the glory of Islam.”

This Tazkirah programme was conducted once in a month. Participants who are present came from Mahallah Uthman residents, the fellow and also the Principal. InshaAllah, this programme will be continuing for the next semester with interesting and knowledgeable topics to be discussed. KLIK

In Malaysia we may find some people with a squint eyes or strabismus. What is strabismus or squint eye? In Bahasa Malaysia strabismus or squint is call as mata juling.A person is said to have a squint eye when one of the two eyes is not directing to the same point as the other eye. In other word there is no similar focus point for both eyes. Because there is no similar focus point, the images receive by both of the eyes cannot be superimpose in the brain. Instead of the brain receiving the same images of the same objects and to be superimposed in the brain, the brain is now receiving two images of the different object which cannot be superimpose by the brain. In eyes with squint or strabismus, the brain is receiving two images of the different object which cannot be superimposed. When our brain cannot superimpose the two images view by the two eyes, our brain will take the drastic action of suppressing one of the images. Usually our brain wills supressed the retinal image of the lower quality. Our brain need to have two retinal images of the same object to be superimposed in order to have depth perception. Without two retinal images of the same object being superimpose on top of each other, no depth perception is possible. In other words, a person who has a squint or strabismus will not have a depth perception. A person with a squint may be able to see with a 6/6 vision but without any depth perception. What is the advantage of having a depth perception? With a depth perception a person is able to judge the size of an object more accurately. A driver with no depth perception will not be able to judge how far, he is driving from the car in front of him. A surgeon with no depth perception will not be able to accurately judge how far the tissues are from him. In other words, a person with a squint or strabismus will not have a depth perception and they will not become a good driver, pilot or a surgeon.

We are seeing with our brain and not with our eyes. Our eyes are only the mean upon which the rays of light enter our eyes and reaching to the back of the eyes known as retina. When the light rays touch the retina, the rays will be converted into action potentials (energy waves) which travel via the neurones to the visual cortex of the brain. Our brain will interpret the waves of the action potentials and converted the waves into pictures of three dimensions and with colours .Our brains have the ability to interpret the various waves that reach the visual cortex into pictures in splits of seconds. When the visual cortex is damaged, we will not be able to see although we may have two very beautiful eyes. Our most common causes of blind are not due to the damage of the visual cortex but due to the inability of the light rays to reach the retina due to the opacity in the crystalline lens known as cataract. With simple operation, the opaque crystalline lens or cataract can be removed and the blind men can resume a normal sight. Strabismus or squint will not lead to blindness.it is not related to diseases of the eyes but it is related to the function of the eyes when the eyes are used binocularly. With only one eye one can see the world and one can function normally as other peoples without a squint or strabismus. A person with only one eye can function quite normally as peoples with two eyes. Having two eyes is the same as having two kidneys. A person with only one kidney can function quite normally as a person with two kidneys. Since kidneys are organs to eliminate toxin from the blood, the only different is the kidney of a person with only one kidney will have to work harder than the kidneys of those who have two kidneys. On the other hand, eyes are organs that enable us to see the world and it is an important organ to the body. Allah has given us two eyes. With only one eyes we can see the world but with two eyes we can see the world with stereoscopic vision. A stereoscopic vision means we can see the world in three dimensions. We can see the depth of the things that we see, which we cannot see with only one eye. With stereoscopic vision, we can judge distances and we can have perspective in our vision. With both eyes available to a person, he or she can see the world to be more beautiful than a person with only one eye. On addition to that a person with two eyes is more cosmetically presentable than a person with a squinting eye

A child born with a squint if not treated early will have squint for the rest of his or her lifes. Squint in a laymen term can be defined as both of the eyes have no alignment with each other’s. A car is not aligned when the four tyres of the car are not well aligned. A car with the two tyres either front or the rear tyres are not well aligned will not move forward in the straight direction but will continue to deviate in either direction. The eye which is squinting will not focus on the objects of focus but it will focus on other objects. In other word, one eye is focusing on one object and the other eye is focusing on another object .In normal eyes without squint or strabismus, both eyes will be focusing on the same object of focus at any particular times. In normal eyes without squint at any particular times, the brain is seeing two images of only one object but in squinting eyes, at any particular times, the brain is seeing the images of two different objects. When the brain is seeing two different images, the brain will have difficulty in superimposing the images and the person will have double vision. A person with a symptom of double vision is said to have a squint or strabismus. Whenever a person reported to have a double vision, it indicates that person has acquired a squint or strabismus. Whenever the two eyes are not aligned, our vision will become double. Whenever a person has a double vision often he or she will also has a headache. Whenever one eye is closed the double vision will disappears and headache will also subsides. An acquired squint can be associated with systemic diseases such as diabetic, hypertension. Often when the diabetic or hypertension is treated the squint also disappears.

Some children are born with a squint and this squint is often due to the malformation of one of the six ocular muscles surrounding the eyes. Surgery must be performed to correct the muscles of the eyes before the child attain the age of five or six years old. According to vision scientist, eyes are part of our brain and our brain attains maturity at the age of six. Similarly our eyes attain its maturity at the age of six. Vision scientists call the period before the age of six as the plastic state of the brain and because the brain is in the plastic state, the brain can still be modified or changed to whatever forms we want. After the age of six, our brain is no longer plastic, which means our brain can no longer be modified or changed to the forms that we want. In other words, after the age of six our brain has become hardened. If a child is born with a squint or strabismus is to attain a normal binocular vision, that squint or strabismus of the child must be operated before the age of six. Any squint operation done after the age of six may not enable the child to have a normal binocular vision as those with two normal eyes. Squint operation after the age of six may resolve the squint problem but it does not resolve the binocular vision problem. Cosmetically the child may no longer  having the squint but vision wise the child will not have stereoscopic or binocular vision. In case we want our child with a squint to attain good binocular vision and cosmetically sound, we must make our child to have squint operation before the age of six.

Besides the manifest squint or strabismus, there are also conditions known as latent squint or phoria. Latent squints are the squints that are normally hidden or not visible under normal situation but it becomes manifest under stress conditions. The symptoms of latent squint are often transient blur and headache. Manifest squint can be treated by surgery done by ophthalmologists specialising in squint surgery. Latent squint probably can be treated using eyes exercises, correcting refractive errors or by mild prismatic correction. Squint and latent squint can only be detected and diagnosed by optometrists and ophthalmologists. Opticion are not trained to detect and diagnose these problems of the eyes. While squint surgery can only be done by the ophthalmic surgeons, other treatment of squint eyes can be done by an optometrist. Although there are many ophthalmologists but very few of them are specialising in squint or strabismus surgery.

Dr T S Surendran is one of the few ophthalmologists who are specialising in squint surgery. He is currently working as an ophthalmic surgeon, in the best eye hospital in India, known as Sankara Nethralaya Chennai India. He is the Vice Chairman of Sankara Nethralaya and the President of Strabismological Society of India. He is a well-known figure in Paediatric Ophthalmology in Asian –Pacific region. Such a great personality in ophthalmology will be visiting Faculty of Optometry, TWINTECH International University College, 14, Persiaran Dagang, Sri Damansara, Kuala Lumpur on the 14 December 2011.On that day he will be delivering a lecture on Strabismus overview and interesting case presentation at 10.00am, Lecture Theatre, level 2,Wisma Twintech. Allah has given men desires as well as the mind. With the mind, men can think and know about the truth. Allah has given men the desires so that men can get married, reproduce, eat and drink. Without the desires men will not be able to reproduce, eat and drink. Without the mind, men would not be able to think and to judge what is right and what is wrong. Humans are given by Allah both the desire and the mind while the animals are given only the desires. When men utilize only the desires and not the mind, then men will be acting like the animals. Desires in men are only to be used under the direction of the mind and guidance from Allah by following the orders of Allah in the ways shown by Prophet Muhammad saw. When men follow their desires without the direction of the mind and the orders of Allah, then men are using the desires similar to the animals following their desires. Animals are not given by Allah the mind to think and to know what is right and what is wrong and no Prophet had been sent by Allah to any group of the animals. Whenever men follow their desires as the animals do, men will behave similar to the animals. It is unfortunate for men to act like the animals as men were created by Allah to be superior than the animals. Animals are created in order to serve men but men are created in order to serve Allah. Allah has created men for Him. Allah has created men to love Allah and not to love other than Allah. Allah has created men to serve Allah and all other creations other than men are created by Allah to serve men. When men behave like animals, men degrade themselves to the status of the lowest creation of Allah.Animals were not given the mind to guide them to the correct path and neither  they were given the orders of Allah to follow. When the animals died, they will not be asked on whatever actions they did in this life and after justice has been established between the animals, all the animals will be turned to soil. When men who used to behave in this world similar to the animals saw that the animals were turned into soil, they will make request to Allah to also turn them to soil, but their request will be turned down by Allah and instead they will be thrown into the hellfire.

Desires are to be used under the directions of the mind and the mind should direct the desires to be used in accordance to the orders of Allah in the ways shown by Prophet Muhammad saw. When men do not use the desires under the directions of the mind and in accordance to the orders of Allah, the desires will certainly succumb to men’s own whims and wishes. When men use the desires under the command of their own whims and wishes, men will experience a life or excitement and enjoyment . All men in this world except a few want this kind of life. All men except a few regard the lifestyle of enjoyment and excitement as paradise in this world. Many choose to have a lifestyle like paradise in this world and to those who chose to have paradise in this world would not be able to have the real paradise in the Hereafter. Men have to make the choice, either to simply follow the whims and wishes of their desires or to control the desires in order to follow the directions of the mind and the orders of Allah. When men follow the directions of the mind and the orders of Allah, men will have to suppress the whims and wishes of their desires. This lifestyle is known as the lifestyle of “Mujahadah”. Allah has promised to those who lead the lifestyle of Mujahadah, the guidance or hidayah by Allah. In other words, men can choose either to have or not to have the guidance or hidayah from Allah. Guidance or Hidayah is a matter of choice and not a matter of fortune or nasib. Men who choose to lead lifestyle that follows the wimps and wishes of the desires and having excitement and enjoyment in this world would not be given guidance or hidayah by Allah. Men who choose to lead a lifestyle that suppresses their desires and follow the desires of Allah and living a life of Mujahadah in this world would be given guidance or hidayah by Allah. Men were given the freedom to choose between two ways of lifestyles. Men would not be force by Allah to choose the lifestyles that Allah loves. Allah has given men the ability to choose their own lifestyles in this world and upon the choice that men made, men have to bear the risks and the consequences that come with the choice they made.

Allah does not give Hidayah or guidance by chance but by choice. Hidayah or guidance is given to a person, according to the choice of lifestyle that the person has made; either he or she chooses a lifestyle of fulfilling his or her own desires or a lifestyle of fulfilling the desires of Allah. When a person chooses the lifestyles of fulfilling his or her own desire, Allah will not give that person hidayah. When a person chooses the lifestyles that fulfill the desires of Allah, Allah will give that person hidayah. Allah has given men the choice to have hidayah or not to have hidayah. Among all the creations of Allah, only men are given the choice, either to have hidayah or not to have hidayah. When men choose to fulfill their own desires, men will not have hidayah and the final destination of men will be hellfire. When men choose to fulfill the desires of Allah, men will be given hidayah and the final destination of men will be paradise. Allah has given men the mind and the desires and men were ordered to use their mind to know at any particular time what are the desires of Allah and they were ordered to strive to fulfill the desires of Allah. When men are not using their mind to know and to fulfill the desires of Allah but to subject themselves only to their own desires, men are behaving like the animals. There was a time in history when Allah really turned men (a group of people from Bani Israel) into monkeys.

Why so many men in this world choose the lifestyles similar to the animals? Why so many men turn down the choice to become a human being? There are many men in this world who shun marriage as a mean of fulfilling their sexual desires and turn to the way of the animals. Many men simply do not chose hidayah or guidance from Allah and they deliberately choose the lifestyles of the animals. It is very unfortunate for men to choose to live like the animals when Allah has made men the vicegerent (Khalifah) of Allah.

Who is to be blamed when men do not get hidayah? No one is to be blamed except the men themselves. However, it is the habit of men that when they are in trouble, they always like to blame other people for their troubles. Men often blame other people for their misfortunes, when men have made their own desires as God. Our desires do not like to admit faults and our own weaknesses. It is painful for the desires to admit faults and wrong doings. Iblis blamed Adam for his misfortunes and Iblis swore to Allah that he will try to persuade all the progeny of Adam to choose the path of making their own desires as their God. Allah told Iblis that he may do so but he will not be able to persuade those who are sincere. Men need desires but the desires should be under the control of men. Men will be able to control the desires and use them in accordance to the wishes of Allah only when men have the correct faith or real Iman towards Allah. When men do not have the required level of iman as desired by Allah, men will not be able to control the desires and use them according to the wishes of Allah. Iman become correct only when men are able to obey all that are Fard and to leave all that are Haram. As long as we are not able to prevent ourselves from doing the Haram, we have not obtained the true level of iman as required by Allah. Once the iman is correct, men will be able to control the desires and men will be able to use the desires as commanded by Allah. When we are able to use our desires as commanded by Allah, then our desires elevate to superior level.

We need to rectify our desires until our desires come to a level whereby whatever we desire is the same as what Allah desires. Whoever has reached that level of desire will find peace and contentment in following the orders of Allah and will not find peace and contentment in pursuing his or her own desires. It is the order of Allah that we rectify our desires. Allah has ordered us to rectify or to do islah on our desires. When our desire is to have more money, wealth, power, positions, sex and all the material pursuits, our desire is similar to the desires of the animals and Allah has ordered us to rectify our desires. We cannot have desires like the animals as we are humans and to be human Allah has ordered us to rectify our desires. To be human, we have to rectify our desires to only wanting to become the lover of Allah. All things other than Allah, be it wealth, power, position, children and whatsoever Allah has given men are supposed to be used to obtain the love of Allah. Men will only be guided or obtain the guidances or hidayah from Allah when men want only Allah and strive hard towards obtaining the love of Allah. Once men have rectified their desires and only wanting to have Allah, Allah will guide men towards the path of obtaining the love of Allah and that path is the path that was followed by Prophet Muhammad saw. When men want other than Allah, men will not obtain guidance or Hidayah from Allah and Allah will not show men the path towards achieving the love of Allah.

Although in our heart we desire for money, power and all other things under the sun but not Allah, we have to rectify our desires because wrong desire is the beginning of men’s downfall and to have the correct desire is the beginning of men’s success. Allah has ordered us to rectify our desires and in order to do that we have to start to say that we want Allah and only the love of Allah that we want. We have to start conveying to all people that we want only the love of Allah and doing this and the other orders of Allah with sole intention to please Allah until Allah is pleased.

Every year operation “SIKAP” was carried out by Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan or JPJ and met with total failure. Let us ponder and think why the operation is a failure. Undoubtedly accidents cause loss of properties and human capital to the nation.  Although we know the reason why we have many road accidents, we are not doing anything to rectify it. We know that road accidents are caused by bad behaviour or bad “SIKAP” on the road but we do not know how to treat bad behaviour or bad “SIKAP”. Who knows the treatment for bad behaviour? Policemen and JPJ officers do not know the treatment for behaviour as it involves the science of human behaviour and the science of medical treatment. Unless there are Policemen or JPJ officers who specialise in the areas of human behaviour and treatment, policemen and JPJ officers will never have a clue on the treatment of human behaviour or “SIKAP”. People who are interested in the treatment of behaviour are doctors who are interested in behavioural therapy. There are very few doctors who are interested in behaviour because most doctors are only interested in removing the symptoms of the diseases and not on the treatment of diseases. Only doctors who are interested in the treatment of diseases holistically are interested in the treatment of behaviour. People such as policemen and JPJ officers who constantly think on catching lawbreakers will not be given the knowledge on behavioural treatment by Allah. Instead they should consult and listen to advice from doctors who specialise in behavioural treatment, and carry out their recommendations.

Every year JPJ officers conduct Operation “SIKAP” or in short “Ops SIKAP” aiming at reducing road accidents. In my opinion “Ops SIKAP” is only in name to reduce accident by improving “SIKAP” of drivers. In reality it is only an operation to issue summons to drivers who do not adhere to traffic rules. It did nothing to improve the “SIKAP” or behaviour of drivers. It is ridiculous to treat bad behaviour with traffic summons. We may issue many summonses to drivers who break the law, but this will prompt them to change their bad behaviour. Behaviour is not related to the issuance of summons. Instead it is related to wrong mindset and wrong belief in driving. As long as we do not change the mindset and belief of our drivers, we will not be able to change their bad driving manners. What can change the mindset and belief of our car drivers, which consequently will change their behaviour for the better? It is not summons or drugs or foods. With all due respect to our law enforcers who are experts in law enforcement, these questions may only be answered by doctors who specialise in behavioural therapy. Mindset and belief can only be changed through spoken words and heard repeatedly over a period of time. The younger the person, and the more repetitive the words are spoken and heard by him, the better will be the results. Our behaviour results from our belief and mindset. Belief and mindset are the result of words we hear and utter repeatedly since the day we were born. We cannot change bad behaviour through eating good food, issuing summons or through punishments or drugs administration. Instead we can change bad behaviour by using a therapy known as self-talk therapy. Self-talk therapy is a therapy to change a person’s mindset and belief, whereby he needs to listen and repeat specific words (short sentences) over and over again for a certain period of time.

About five years ago, I presented the therapy aptly named “PEMANDU BESTARI” to Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (JKJR) and JPJ. JKJR was impressed, but JPJ was otherwise. JPJ was not interested because, in their view, the inclusion of therapy session requirement will increase the financial burden of consumers. Because of this, the therapy was not used as part of the requirement to obtain or renew driving licence in Malaysia. I think many people including JPJ officials think that it is easy to treat bad behaviour that only by issuing traffic summons to the drivers who flout traffic rules, their bad driving behaviour will be transformed easily to good driving behaviour. How many years have the JPJ officials been conducting the operation known as OPS “SIKAP” but still the bad “SIKAP” or behaviour of Malaysian drivers remain the same or worsening. It is an embarrassing fact that the road accidents statistics is continually on the rise in spite of OPS “SIKAP”. OPS “SIKAP” in my opinion is a total failure. Continuing doing something which has been proven a failure is a sign of utter foolishness. Malaysians are known to have bad behaviour only when they are driving. Bad behaviour while driving is associated with the unique bad qualities that most Malaysians tend to have particularly when they drive. Many Malaysians are highly emotional when they are driving. They can easily get angry or irritated with another driver who is perceived as showing-off their cars or driving ability. Many Malaysians treat the act of driving as a means to show off their flashy cars and driving skill instead of as a means to reach their destination. Many believe and think that their skill and speed in driving, instead of Allah, will cause them to reach their destination. In reality only Allah can cause them to reach their destination safely. When they believe that Allah is the only One who can cause them to reach their destination safely, only then they will drive according to the traffic regulations. Driving following the regulation means we are obeying the orders of Allah. Malaysians must believe that when they are following the traffic rules they are obeying the orders of Allah. Their intention of driving following the traffic rules should be only to please Allah until Allah is pleased. When Allah is pleased Allah will protect and prevent us from all the calamities on the road. Many Malaysians think that driving good cars is a sign of success and driving cars faster than others is a sign of manliness. In reality when a person drives according to the rules laid down by the government they are obeying the orders of Allah. When they obey the orders of Allah to please Allah until Allah is pleased with them, they will become successful.

Many motorcyclists ride against traffic laws because they believe that traffic laws abeyance are meant for drivers and not for them. Riders mainly belong to young groups of people who are highly emotional and ultra sensitive. They regard riding not as a means to reach their destination but as a mean to show off their pride and glamour. Many young motorcyclists use the road as a means to show off their riding skill by riding faster than others. The motorcyclists’ bad behaviour is the result of their wrong beliefs and mindset. “OPS SIKAP” and summons issuing will not eliminate the riders’ bad behaviour. Undoubtedly the government gain money when people settle the summons, but no amount of money collected can offset the loss of properties and human capital. Due to road accidents, our country not only loses properties but also many important and valuable human capitals that we badly need. Road accidents can be prevented and minimised by giving proper treatment for bad behaviour or “SIKAP”. I have presented this to Mr. Surat Singh, the Director General of JKJR and JPJ officials and I think it is time to revisit the use of therapy in preventing road accidents. The introduction of road safety as a subject in our school curriculum will not change the people’s driving behaviour. They may pass the subject on road safety but that does not change their wrong mindset and belief on driving. Knowledge does not change behaviour but mindset and belief do. In order to develop good driving behaviour among Malaysian motorists we urgently need to use the therapy.

Any delay in therapy implementation will result in more accidents on Malaysian road particularly during festive period. With more accidents we will suffer more loss of properties and human life. With the implementation of the therapy we may not expect a sudden drop in road accidents. Instead we may expect to witness a gradual and steady drop in road accidents. We have no other ways to treat bad behaviour. The self-talk therapy is the only method available at the moment which is simple and practical to treat behaviour. Without the government intervention no one will be likely to use the therapy because it is only to change their behaviour. Malaysians will only use the therapy if there are material gains. If the government can impose the rules that driving licence will not be issued unless they pass the test on self-talk therapy, then everyone will take the therapy seriously. If our government is very serious in lowering the road accidents statistics in Malaysia, the government must make it compulsory for all motor vehicle drivers to pass the test on self-talk therapy known as “Pemandu Bestari”. The government can charge the public to buy the therapy programme at a minimum and affordable price. Compared to the huge amount of property and life losses as a result of road accidents, the cost of self-therapy programme is so marginal. In my opinion the use of therapy is so pertinent and effective in reducing the road accidents statistics in Malaysia. Road accidents caused many wives to be widows, husbands without wives and children became orphans. Road accidents are analogous to diseases and it is preventable and treatable. It is the government’s responsibility to take the correct action to stop or at least to reduce the road accidents statistics in Malaysia. Road accidents are not “nasib” or “takdir” that cannot be avoided. Road accidents become our “takdir” because we do not treat the “disease” when we actually have the treatments in our hands.

Our current practice of preferring to issue traffic summons to traffic rules violators will not help us solve our problems in the long run. The statistics of road accidents in Malaysia will continue on the increase following the increase of motor vehicles driven by drivers with bad behaviour. The government must take drastic and practical actions to stop the increase of road accidents. Lectures, advice or songs are insufficient to reduce the number road accidents. The treatment of bad behaviour on the road by using self-talk therapy will Insya’Allah help to reduce road accidents in Malaysia.
